Outreach: Building a Pizza Oven

When students are unable to attend college on site, we try to find a way to offer outreach as a way of building trust and resilience. For one of our Brocks students, this involved an ambitious but hugely fulfilling project: building a pizza oven from scratch in their back garden!

Over a series of weeks, one of our staff members visited the student involved and worked progressively with them to design and build the oven, starting with the brick base. A complex and demanding project, the student worked really well and this week they were able to cook their first pizzas in the finished oven. Delicious!
