We know that Christmas isn’t always a joyful time for every family, and that the Christmas break can be challenging for many of our students, which is why we work extra hard at this time of year to both encourage some shared celebrations at College, and prepare our students for the holiday. This might involve drawing up visual timetables with them so they know what to expect each day. It might involve practising self care techniques that they can then use independently during the holidays. It might involve practising social skills ahead of busy family gatherings.

We also aim to bring some joy, and have been enjoying a Christmas dinner together on each campus, carol singing and feeling festive with Christmas Jumper Day. Each campus has had it’s own unique activities too, with cinnamon bun making (and sharing!) at Lighthouse, Christmas crafts at Cannamore and festive cooking at Brocks. It’s been lovely to see our students joining in activities together and feeling more resilient and prepared for the break ahead.
