Work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Awards takes place throughout the year, but the expedition is always a real highlight. This year was no different, with six students (two from Brocks Farm and four from Lighthouse) completing their expedition for their Bronze Award earlier this month.

The group hiked, carrying heavy backpacks, following maps and route guides from Haytor to Brocks Farm, following the Templer Way. After a long day’s walking and navigating, they then demonstrated a range of camping skills by erecting tents and cooking a group meal. The following day they navigated around the Stover Trail before completing the expedition on the Templer Way once more. They worked incredibly well as a team and showed real determination and perseverance.
Some of these students have now completed all of the sections of the Award and will now be awarded the full Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is a highly commendable achievement, and we are so proud of everyone involved.
