“If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough.” ― Meister Eckhart.
Expressing thanks is a selfless act, done to show people that they are appreciated. Gratitude can improve our overall sense of wellbeing and can also be a powerful tool for strengthening interpersonal relationships. At Breakthrough, we like gratitude!
We recently held a week of Thanksgiving at The Lighthouse to celebrate our gratitude for everyone we work with. We created a thankful board to share some of the things we are thankful for with our students.

We also played a brilliant game, using objects as triggers for thoughtful and thankful memories and moments. Staff brought in items that meant something to them and then students and staff had to guess which item belonged to which staff member. It was great fun and prompted lots of discussion! At the reveal, staff shared why the object was special to them.
Students helped to decorate the building, we had an impromptu drama session and an absolutely fabulous Thanksgiving lunch, prepared by our staff. It featured turkey with all the trimmings, and key lime pie, and was followed by a really fun sing-a-long. Perfect!

What are you thankful for?
