Last Thursday saw Cannamore hosting a spectacular showcase of musical and theatrical entertainment, with parents, carers and families invited to enjoy the performances.
In the morning, students and staff put on a brilliant production of the ‘play within a play’ from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Our version followed the Mechanicals as they rehearsed their version of ‘Pyramus and Thisbe’, before performing it in front of the Duke and Duchess after their marriage. This, of course, included the infamous scenes where Bottom is transformed into an ass, much to everyone’s amusement. The students involved were exceptional, all learning their lines, rehearsing tirelessly and helping with the set, costumes and props. It was huge fun to practise together and create something so special – well done to everyone involved.
We enjoyed a delicious barbeque for lunch, prepared by the talented Sally, complete with sunshine! After lunch the music festival began and it was just wonderful. We are blessed to have so many talented students in our midst, with some beautiful covers alongside several original pieces – it really was special. Huge thanks have to go to John and Dave for doing so much backstage to make everything look and sound as it should.
