Student Voice

Student Voice

Our students’ feedback is vital in developing and improving the experience we offer both now and in the future. We always aim to learn from our students and respond to their voice to ensure that we maintain a high quality student experience.

We currently gather student voice both formally and informally through a variety of channels, for example our popular suggestion box. These insights help us to understand and reflect on the experience our students have with us, and to prioritise our actions and resources. However, we would like to consolidate this process with the establishment of a student forum in the coming weeks.

As Amanda Burrows, Head of Therapeutic Education, says:

One of the key areas I am seeking to develop is the voice of our young people. We wish to hear from them and I will be setting up a forum for this to happen over the next term. However, this is certainly not the only way we like to know our student’s views. Our centre staff are always looking for ways to make sure students can contribute.

I am hoping to hear student views on a regular basis as we go through the summer term and beyond and to fulfil this, am setting up a student forum, (exact name yet to be decided!). I am hopeful that one or two students from each centre will want to take part. If there are too many students to make it manageable, we will stagger them across the each term to offer opportunity for all. I am hopeful that this forum will support our growing ‘menu’ of ways for students to express their views.”

Suggestion Box

We have an array of projects happening to build student views into the indoor and outside areas of the centres. From outdoor furniture-making, to making and selling honey, making curtains and planning tree planting, there are a wealth of opportunities for students to become more involved in the work the Trust does.
