Students from Brocks Farm enjoyed an educational visit to The Box this week , to explore both the permanent collection and their current exhibitions.
On show currently is the Planet Ocean exhibition, which, alongside A Teaspoon Full of Plankton, celebrates Plymouth’s unique position as Britain’s ocean city. The show explores pivotal moments in our past and present relationship with the sea. The highly creative swimming caps were a particularly fascinating feature!
Both students and staff alike really enjoyed The Time Is Always Now – a celebration of the Black figure in contemporary art. Having come from the National Portrait Gallery, the show moves on to New York next so this was an exciting opportunity for students to see such a groundbreaking exhibition. And the permanent collection at The Box is always inspiring too, with students enjoying engaging with the infamous woolly mammoth and insect display!
Our English and drama teacher also enjoyed her time in the media room, filming for BBC Spotlight. Their green screen technology makes for a wonderful interactive display:
