Encouraging positive mental health habits is an important part of life at Breakthrough. Next week, across our centres, we are recognising World Mental Health Day on October 10th and, to make sure all students have an opportunity to participate, we are extending it to the whole week. The theme for World Mental Health Day this year is ‘Mental health is a human right’, but we will be using it as an opportunity to talk generally about mental health and how we can look after ourselves. We will be enjoying a time of Tea and Talk in all centres, with homemade cakes and lots of space to chat.

A key feature of the week will be a wall of photos of staff doing various things to look after their mental health. This is a great way to model to students, and hopefully give some ideas for what students might like to try themselves. I’m sure they will be good conversation starters too. Watch this space for an update on how it went and some photos from the week.
